When rest is no longer enough
Some experiences — burnout that has run too deep, anxiety that never fully lifts, grief that has changed everything, trauma that keeps returning — cannot be addressed in a weekly therapy session or a holiday. They require something more: a period of complete immersion in skilled, attentive, medical care.
LARA's Private Renewal programme is designed for exactly that. A residential, medically supervised stay in a private beachfront retreat in Mauritius — led by Dr. Siddick Maudarbocus, with over 40 years of clinical experience, and a team of world-class specialists who give you their full attention.
What we treat
Mental health conditions
LARA provides residential care for adults experiencing:
- Depression — including treatment-resistant depression and persistent low mood
- Anxiety disorders — generalised anxiety, panic disorder, social anxiety
- PTSD and complex trauma — using evidence-based modalities including EMDR and somatic therapy
- Eating disorders — restrictive eating, binge-purge cycles, compulsive eating, and body image distress
- Sleep disorders — chronic insomnia, disrupted circadian rhythms, sleep-related anxiety
- Grief and bereavement — following loss of a loved one, relationship, identity, or life chapter
Burnout & emotional exhaustion
Burnout is not tiredness. It is the systematic collapse of the body and mind's ability to function — driven by sustained pressure, unrelenting demands, and the long-term suppression of one's own needs. It affects executives, professionals, carers, and high-achievers who have run at full capacity for too long.
LARA's burnout programme addresses the physiological, psychological, and emotional dimensions of exhaustion — with a personalised structure that allows genuine recovery without the pressure to perform.
- Executive and occupational burnout
- Caregiver burnout
- Chronic fatigue and adrenal exhaustion
- Emotional numbness and depersonalisation
- Return-to-work planning and sustainable lifestyle restructuring
Life transition & loss of direction
Some of the most profound suffering has no clinical name. A sense that life has lost its meaning. That the person you used to be has somehow slipped away. That you are functioning — but not living.
LARA offers a space to stop, to be heard, and to rediscover what matters. Whether following a major life transition, a relationship ending, a career collapse, or simply a long period of quiet erosion — our team works with you to find your ground again.
- Loss of purpose or life direction
- Identity crisis and major life transitions
- Loneliness and disconnection
- Existential distress
Cognitive strain & nervous system recovery
The modern world imposes extraordinary demands on the nervous system — constant connectivity, cognitive overload, sleep deprivation, and the relentless suppression of stress responses. Over time, the accumulated effect manifests as chronic tension, concentration difficulties, irritability, and physical symptoms with no clear medical cause.
LARA's integrative approach addresses this directly — combining clinical assessment, somatic therapies, nutritional medicine, mindfulness, and structured rest to restore nervous system regulation and sustainable cognitive function.
- Cognitive overload and brain fog
- Nervous system dysregulation and chronic stress responses
- Work-life imbalance and boundary collapse
- Psychosomatic symptoms — headaches, gut issues, fatigue, muscular tension
How we work
Every client begins with a comprehensive clinical and psychological assessment — covering medical history, current symptoms, life context, and personal goals. From this, Dr. Maudarbocus and our clinical team design a programme that is entirely yours.
Modalities used within our mental health programmes include:
- Individual psychotherapy — 3 to 4 sessions per week depending on programme
- EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) for trauma and PTSD
- Somatic therapy — body-based approaches to trauma, anxiety, and dysregulation
- CBT and psychoeducation
- Auricular and body acupuncture
- Reiki healing and bio-resonance therapy
- IV nutritional protocols and personalised supplementation
- Yoga, mindfulness, breathwork, and art therapy
- Guided nature walks, equine-assisted therapy (Platinum), and ocean-based activities
What a stay at LARA looks like
There are no rigid schedules or group activities at LARA unless you choose them. Each day is shaped around you — your energy, your needs, your progress. A typical day might include:
- A morning session of yoga, mindfulness, or a guided beach walk
- A one-to-one psychotherapy session with your lead therapist
- Lunch with a personalised nutrition plan prepared by our private chef
- An afternoon integrative therapy session — acupuncture, somatic work, reiki, or IV therapy
- A late afternoon check-in with your case manager
- An evening of rest — reading, ocean walks, or quiet reflection
As you progress, the programme evolves with you. There is no fixed endpoint — only the rhythm that is right for your recovery.
Not sure where to start? Our expert team will guide you based on your individual situation, medical history, and goals.
